Let's get out of the table and onto the forest!
Tucked between our wooden villas and the main house lies a secondary forest full of flamboyants, oaks, a ceiba, and hundreds of coffee trees. Gather your loved ones on a picnic blanket (4 people max) and enjoy a nice afternoon under the shade of the trees. Each blanket has a basket of crackers, jams, honey, pickles, local cheeses, and fruits. We will be passing along tasting-size classic sandwiches that are famous for a reason: they are delicious. All of them will be made from scratch with the freshest ingredients, slowly cured meats, melty cheeses, and local bread, depending on the sandwich of course. Think of Pastrami, Mezcla, Medianoche, Cubano, Turkey, and sweet dessert sandwich. Spaces are limited to keep it intimate. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy beautiful views, breathe fresh air, listen to good music, sip nice wine, and enjoy great food. A perfect summer afternoon!
The price is per blanket for two, three, or four people and includes the basket and the tasting-sized sandwiches. Filtered water bottles, blankets, napkins, and glasses will be provided. Our wine list will be available to purchase your bottle, with prices varying from $45 to $75. A corkage fee of $15 is also an option for those who prefer to bring their own wine.
El Pretexto is an 18+ adult-only venue. Pets or cigarette smoking are not allowed. We reserve the right of admission and permanence. Thanks for your consideration!
To ensure the quality of service, we won't be able to accept major menu changes. Please remember that you will be seated on top of a picnic blanket on the floor the whole time. This might be challenging for those with physical constraints, and we want to be fairly upfront with the expectations. Having everyone in the same location helps us with logistics, and we thank you for your understanding. The picnic will last around 2.5-3 hours and will be over around 7:00 pm. Arriving on time is highly recommended. Late-shows will enjoy the dishes pending serving at the time of arrival, and the planned ending time of the event will be respected. As we approach the wrapping-up time, we will kindly let you know. We won’t be able to extend the time on the property as we want to be respectful of our neighbors and guests. Our cancellation policy:
Purchase reimbursement will only occur if canceled 72 hours before the event. Why? By this time, we have already purchased all food and drinks for the reserved spaces, and we are definitely counting on your presence. If something unexpected happens, we invite you to let us know and check if a family or friend can purchase your spaces. We will do our best to find someone to buy them for you, but we cannot guarantee it.
If the weather doesn’t allow us to celebrate the picnic in the forest, our plan B is to move the experience to the covered tables on the deck.
